An unusual small-batch sencha from last spring's Yabukita harvest, made with a lighter touch during processing that left the leaves curlier and more irregular than our standard asamushi — closer in spirit to the old guricha (curled tea) traditions of Kyushu than to the refined needle shapes of modern Shizuoka sencha.

The result is a bolder, grassier cup with more body and a distinctly rustic character. This is not a delicate tea — it's earthy, assertive, and a little wild around the edges. Recommended for curious drinkers who enjoy exploring the full range of what Japanese green tea can be, or for anyone who likes their sencha with some backbone.

  • Brewing guidelines: 2 piled tsp. to 100–300 ml water at 75°C / 167°F, steeped for 1–2 minutes.
