Kurasawa is a cultivar originating from Shizuoka Prefecture, where we are located. It is also known by the name Shizu-7111.
This sencha can be a bit vigorous with its astringency in the first go-around. That astringency is quick to pass, though, leaving an umami and mellowness reminiscent of sweet potato. Following steepings are balanced and smooth, with no remnant of the initial bite.
We highly recommend tasting this side-by-side with our other asamushi-senchas to fully appreciate the distinctions between cultivars.
